SUMMARY
As the Lead AI and Data Engineer at Spiral, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and scaling our data infrastructure. You will work closely with all company disciplines to create robust solutions that leverage machine learning technologies that combine customer usage data to generate personalized insights that are incorporated directly into our products' user-facing experiences.
Your responsibilities will extend beyond purely the machine learning and data platform team, as all of our backend engineers are expected to contribute to development activities across all backend technologies to consistently deliver high-quality code for our applications, products, and services. You will work closely with our product team and frontend engineers to ensure system performance and functionality meet customer needs and deliver high-quality user experiences.

Your experience
- 5+ years of experience with Java
- Experience with common data pipeline tools and frameworks
- Experience integrating, training, and optimizing LLMs
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data-related issues
- Extensive knowledge and experience with:
- Java Spring Boot, JPA,
- SQL and NoSQL databases
- Microservices, docker, k8s/Kubernetes (EKS is a plus)
- Elasticsearch
- Strong analytical and debugging skills
- B.Sc. or higher in Computer Science or equivalent
What you'll do
- Design and develop scalable data platforms that efficiently handle large volumes of customer usage data.
- Collaborate with all company disciplines to integrate data insights into Spiral products.
- Implement data storage solutions that support both real-time and batch processing.
- Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debugging.
- Write clean code to develop functional web applications.
- Troubleshoot and debug applications.
- Gather and address technical and design requirements.
- Provide training and support to internal teams.
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Liaise with developers, designers, and system administrators to identify new features.
- Follow emerging technologies.
- Work closely with Product, QA, Dev-Ops, Customer Success and management
